2025 IN REVIEW AND WHAT TO WATCH FOR 2026:
We are proud to live and work in the west where rodeo, roping, ranching, guest ranches, trail riding, outfitting, agriculture, and recreation – are king – AND pave the path we walk everyday – to create our unique “lane” of the horse sale biz.
That’s why this sale rocks – month in and month out – both catalog and loose – as a direct result of the consignors who bring the quality, build the market confidence, come back year after year, and forge the relationships that are the foundation of our business – thank you – some of you for right on 28 years.
Our buyers – YOU ARE THE BEST!! Some who have been customers long before we took over management in 1998 – yep – and to the new customers who trust us each month. Thank you for choosing Billings Livestock.
And – a thank you to the staff and team that makes Billings roll – you like horses, too – and it shows – thank you for a stellar job – month in and month out, inside and outside, in the sale ring and beyond.
It’s coming – here are the deets on 2025!!
Nine on premise sale events
Eight online-only sales
6,471 head of horses in and out of these gates – the second -largest on premise volume since 2016 – and only 47 head short of #1 – all that with NO November Sale!! We really do have something for everybody.
Yes, it was a fabulous year.
Three sales – March, August, and October – the best sales on record at Billings Livestock. March and October sales both added days to accommodate the volume and selection, August knocked it out of the park with the best August to date, and – September – oh, yes, you did – offered 1,047 head over the three days.
Here’s my take on the market – Every single day the bar moves up. The market continues it’s solid run, driven by strong demand for quality, proven programs, people who represent their product honestly, answer their phones, and for horses that can go to work. Whatever that work may be.
There are always going to be ups and downs, but honest representation matched with top-tier marketing of a good horse, mule, or pony will continue to be sought after. And – there will always be value, too -as “one person’s good is not another person’s good.” And, that, is what makes volume matter.
In summary – this is a repeat, but true, true, true: First class effort matched with a first class product reaps first class results. Combine that with the marketing your sale company offers and be rewarded with a positive outcome. We work hard to set the bar, to move the bar, and to deliver as the leader in both catalog and loose horses. Every month. On premise and online.
Online Only sales – So proud of our expanded schedule this past year and an A-team that make our online sales successful. We have some really cool things coming for our online events in 2026!!
Up next it’s the big one – February 27-28 and March 1. Hope to see you there – under the Big Sky or online!!
